Company History

Majestic Eagle Agency, Inc. has evolved through a series of mergers and acquisitions.  The major historical events are as follows:

MERT ALLEN  INSURANCE AGENCY
In 1974 F. Merton Allen asked us to purchase his small book of American States personal lines business.  He wanted to focus his energies on the real estate and travel agency business.  He continues to be a long time customer for both his business and personal insurance today.

CENTRAL EAST AGENCY
In 1979 we purchased this long time East County agency from Ruth Cushman.  Her husband, George, died in an aircraft accident a few years prior.  This agency was mostly non standard auto.  It was at this time Glenn's wife, Diane, joined us to assist with filing and later agency accounting.

KEY BANK OF OREGON
In 1989 one of Glenn’s clients, a Vice President at Key Bank of Oregon, had employed Glenn as a consultant relating to automating their newly formed insurance agency.  Glenn worked with them on automation issues until they purchased his agency on October 9, 1991.  At that time Glenn was hired as the State Insurance Manager for Key Bank of Oregon Insurance Services.

BENJ. FRANKLIN AGENCY MERGER
Key Bank purchased the insurance agency of Benj. Franklin Financial Services on July 1, 1991.  Benj. Franklin had operated an insurance service department since 1955 (originally called Fir Tree Insurance) writing primarily Personal Lines on mortgage loan customers.  All of the business and half of the employees were merged into Key Bank Insurance.

BOYD & CO. AGENCY.
Key Bank purchased this agency on July 15, 1991.  The agency was started in 1965 by Ted Boyd.  Ted later expanded into the travel agency business and sold the agency to his Nephew, Blaine Hoggard, approximately 1985.  The agency specialized in Commercial Lines but did some Personal Lines, Life and Health.

MAJESTIC EAGLE AGENCY, INC
KeyCorp went through several mergers, the last of which was with Society Bank in 1993.  Senior management made the decision to exit the insurance business and subsequently sold the entire Key Bank of Oregon Insurance Services department to Glenn D. Scott on January 1, 1995.  At that time Glenn reactivated a previous dormant corporation and renamed it Eagle Insurance Management, Inc.  In the process of obtaining Federal Trademark registrations it was decided to modify the name to Majestic Eagle Agency, Inc.  In December 1996, William E. “Bill” Wilson became a partner through a purchase agreement with Majestic Eagle Agency, Inc.
